A record half of renters spend more than 30 percent of their income on housing. Although millions of Americans qualify for federal housing subsidies, the lack of funding for the Housing Trust Fund makes meeting the need for affordable housing next to impossible. On top of that, Wall Street is buying up single-family residential homes nationwide, making it harder for families and individuals to buy homes.
I'm taking bold steps in Washington to curb Wall Street's chokehold on the housing market and invest in affordable housing. But I can't do it without your support.
Wall Street is ready to deploy millions of dollars and hundreds of lobbyists to maintain the status quo in Congress. They have the money, but we have the people.
Every American deserves the ability to keep a roof over their head. If we want a strong economy, we need to make housing affordable and give people a chance to build wealth through homeownership. That means putting an end to Wall Street's real estate grab.
Thank you for your support, your activism, and all that you do.
