Friends,
As the year winds down, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we've accomplished together in 2025 — because it's been incredibly impactful.
Well before Donald Trump took office again in January, attorneys general across the country knew exactly what was coming. We prepared for this fight — because our constituents deserved nothing less than our complete readiness.
And as we expected, the Trump administration came out swinging, targeting California on day one. They repeatedly violated the law, trampled on our rights, and tried to dismantle our democracy.
This year was incredibly difficult for communities all over California, and with each new attack, I dug in my heels and fought harder. To protect our freedoms, defend our democracy, and stand up to abuse of power wherever it appeared.
And we didn't just show up — we won, too. Our "legal hot streak" (as the LA Times called it) showed what we're capable of when we fight back with the law on our side and Californians standing with us.
I'm so proud of what we've achieved this year – here are just some of what we did:
- Filed more than 50 lawsuits against Donald Trump since January, holding him accountable when he broke the law or violated the Constitution.
- Ended the illegal military occupation of Los Angeles — a federal court ordered Trump to stop the unlawful federalization and deployment of California's National Guard.
- Protected more than $168 billion in federal funding (and counting) — which translates to $33,600 saved for every $1 spent on legal action.
- Safeguarded billions for California schools, healthcare, infrastructure, and research.
- Stopped the dismantling of critical agencies like AmeriCorps and HHS.
- Defended fundamental constitutional rights, including birthright citizenship and the right to vote.
- Protected wind energy development nationwide, defeating Trump's unlawful attempt to freeze clean energy projects.
We also held big corporations accountable — securing hundreds of millions of dollars for consumers who were harmed by Big Tech, Big Landlord, and Big Pharma. And we defended California communities by prosecuting corrupt corporate landlords, securing felony convictions against fentanyl traffickers, and holding powerful special interests accountable.
That's what it looks like to fight back — and win.
But if 2025 has taught us anything, it's this: the onslaught of unconstitutional orders and unlawful funding clawbacks isn't slowing down.
Which means neither can we. If you believe this work must continue, please consider making a contribution to my re-election campaign before our end-of-year fundraising deadline tomorrow night.
