Friends, this is really important:
ICE is not above the law. When federal agents abuse their authority or violate people's rights, we will not look away, and we will not be silent.
Right now, the federal government is using terror and fear to try to suppress our freedoms.
Unmarked military-style vehicles and masked, armed agents.
Detainments that more closely resemble kidnappings.
The outright refusal to cooperate with investigations into the horrific and tragic killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Californians are rightly concerned by the prospect of federal agents crossing the line and abusing their authority.
The Trump administration wants us to ignore all of this, but California is doing the opposite: We launched a new online portal to track misconduct by ICE, CBP, and other federal agents in California.
Federal agents do NOT have absolute immunity, so let there be no question: my office stands ready to conduct thorough, independent investigations into potential violations committed by federal agents. And when the facts warrant, we will not hesitate to file charges.
If you witness potential misconduct by federal agents in California, you can report it — because no one is above the law.
Visit oag.ca.gov/ReportMisconduct.
California is paying attention.
