One more time

Can you chip in to help us end the quarter strong so we can continue to fund our door knocks, phone banks, and voting rights efforts across Texas?

Powered By People

Jason,

Today, I'm emailing you on the last day of this financial quarter to ask: Can you chip in $10 to help us end the quarter strong so we can continue to fund our door knocks, phone banks, and voting rights efforts across Texas?

Contribute $10

The past two elections have brought Texas closer to flipping blue than ever before. Powered by People's constant organizing work helped make this happen.

From making over 76 million voter contact attempts to registering over 250,000 new voters, the groundwork for a blue Texas has been started by volunteers of all backgrounds. Now, we need to build on that groundwork for the elections to come.

This work couldn't be more urgent, Jason. In the past 9 months alone, we've seen a deadly insurrection attempt on January 6 and the introduction of over 380 bills in 48 states to restrict voting rights. This moment requires teamwork, and Powered by People volunteers are already stepping up to the task in Texas.

Please, if you can, donate $10 or more to support Powered by People's work to register new voters, fight against voter suppression, and protect our democracy ahead of future elections.

We wouldn't be where we are today without your help, Jason.

Thank you,

Kate Roberts

Happy National Voter Registration Day, Jason!

Today is all about celebrating our right to vote and making sure everyone has the tools they need to make their voice heard.

With critical elections happening this year and in 2022, Powered by People is doing the hard work to get as many people voting as possible. So please, Jason, will you check your voter registration status today?

Check my status »

As we've seen in Texas, Georgia, and Florida recently, the GOP is coordinating a national attack on our fundamental right to vote. The best antidote? Engaging in our democracy. Republicans are counting on us to stay complacent — so we need to do our part to show we will always fight to defend and expand the right to vote.

That's why we're asking you to check your voter registration status by clicking here today — and if you've moved or need to update your registration, now's a great time to do so.

Once you've confirmed your voter registration status, please forward this email to three friends so we can all celebrate National Voter Registration Day together!

Thank you,

Jason, like our name suggests, Powered by People is focused on one thing: Building the largest people-powered movement of voters Texas has ever seen.

With the GOP's clear focus on voter suppression and restricting the rights of Texans, our democracy is in a perilous position, and we need everyone's involvement.

That's why Beto wants to hear from you! So, today we're coming directly to you to ask what questions you have for Beto.

Curious how the recent passage of voter suppression legislation in Texas will impact your ability to vote? Want to learn more about the harmful GOP laws that went into effect this month? Or maybe you've been waiting for the chance to ask Beto about joining the fight for our democracy?

No matter the question, we want to hear it! Please, submit your question to Beto here. We'll follow up with Beto's answers over the next few weeks.

Beto is doing his best to knock on every door in Texas — including in counties that are often cast off as low turnout — and meet every resident he can because we believe politics should be inclusive. Our work is about including as many people as possible in our democracy so we can fight for the change we want to see in Texas.

Please Jason, ask Beto a question today. We can't wait to hear what's on your mind!

It finally happened

We're working to protect and expand democracy. Join our efforts.

Powered By People

It finally happened, Jason.

Just moments ago, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed SB 1, one of the most restrictive voter suppression bills in the country, into law.

There's no other way around it, Jason: They're trying to restrict, and ultimately kill, democracy.

At Powered by People, we're working to expand and save it.

Please, make a donation of any amount today to help fund this next phase in the fight for voting rights. Your support will aid our work to push Congress and President Biden to pass voting protections that can restore our ability to elect leaders who truly represent the people of this state.

Contribute $10

We won't be able to win this fight without support from people like you. You can find Beto's email from last week below, where he outlines what we have to do in the weeks and months ahead.

Thank you for all you've given this fight,

Powered by People

Dear Jason,

Voter suppression has passed in Texas.

A moment ago, both houses of the state legislature passed the final version of SB 1, the bill designed to subvert democracy and keep hundreds of thousands of Texans from participating in our elections.

I want to be very candid about what this means for our democracy now that the bill is on its way to Governor Abbott's desk.

Once signed, we'll have three months before this law goes into effect, meaning if Congress and President Biden don't move quickly to pass voting rights legislation that would override this bill, Republicans will be allowed to cement their power in Texas while skirting accountability for this state's 57,000 COVID deaths, the power grid failures that have killed over 700 Texans, our place as the most uninsured state in the nation, and a slew of other failures that continue to threaten our health, safety, and livelihoods.

As we confront this new phase of the fight to save voting rights in Texas, please consider chipping in $10 or whatever you can to support Powered by People's work to push Congress and President Biden to pass voting protections that can save our democracy and restore our ability to elect leaders who truly represent the people of this state.

Contribute $10

Here's what gives me hope that we can get this done:

In the effort to stop this voter suppression bill, Texans have shown the nation the level of courage and tenacity that it's going to take to stop this slide and save our democracy before it's too late. Because of the support of people like you, we've been able to hold some of the largest voting rights rallies that this state has seen in decades, engage the conscience of the nation, lead the democratic response to the authoritarian threat prompted by the Big Lie, and take this fight to the one place it can be won: our nation's capital.

And while we push at the federal level, Powered by People will continue to spend every day working to register new voters, host phone banks and in-person canvasses in Texas counties that are often neglected, and do everything we can to bring more people into our democracy so that we can build a better, more responsive government in this state.

We won't be able to win this fight without people like you. By joining this effort and making a donation to Powered by People, you'll help us continue to give this fight everything we've got.

Always grateful to be in this fight with you,

Beto

The worst anti-women’s health care law in the country

Jason,

A tough week for Texas.

The anti-voter elections bill we'd fought this entire year passed the Texas legislature on Tuesday, and the following day a raft of truly terrible new laws went into effect.

For example, anyone can now carry a gun in public without getting a permit, or going through a background check or receiving any kind of training. This, in a state that has four of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history and a crisis in gun violence against women (women in Texas are 24% more likely to be murdered with a gun than women in other states).

And now in a state that leads the country and much of the developed world in the rate of maternal mortality — because it was already so hard for women to get healthcare, family planning help or to see a doctor of any kind at all — nearly no one will be able to get a safe, legal abortion. Our state has created a system of legalized harassment with the passage of the worst anti-women's health care law in the country, one that literally places a $10,000 bounty on anyone who supports a woman trying to exercise her basic right to control her own health and decide her own future.

That's just some of what the people of Texas are up against thanks to our state's radical, out of control Republican government. They're also hard at work making scapegoats of public educators, transgender kids and immigrants — all while making Texas one of the deadliest states when it comes to Covid transmission, and keeping their donors in the energy industry happy at the expense of the lives of our fellow Texans.

The only way to change these laws and the terrible trajectory we're on is to change the people in power.

That's why I'm asking you to join me by making a donation of $10 or more to support our efforts to reach, register, and turn out the voters who can help us stop this slide toward cruelty, corruption and authoritarianism and win back Texas in 2022.

Contribute $10

Please chip in whatever you can afford to help us ramp up our efforts to register new voters, improve access to the ballot box, and ensure that the communities targeted for intimidation and suppression can participate in our democracy and have a say in our future.

If we stay focused on registering and connecting with voters — especially those who have traditionally been left out or written off — we can win Texas back by electing leaders who truly represent the people of this state.

Keep the faith.
