Friends, I just left the courtroom after arguing our case against Donald Trump's illegal federalization of the California National Guard.
On June 7, Trump bulldozed the objections of our Governor, ignored the situation on the ground, and unlawfully federalized and deployed California National Guard troops to Los Angeles.
He broke the law. Full stop.
And in case there were any doubts that troops were completely unnecessary in LA — earlier this month, Trump himself relocated California National Guard troops to Oregon, completely undermining his own argument for having them in LA in the first place.
The stakes are enormously high here. If the court doesn't step in, the President will be able to use the California National Guard as his own personal police force to advance his political agenda — anywhere, any time.
The law is on our side, but this fight isn't ending anytime soon.
