The fossil fuel industry says "Jump," and Trump asks, "How high?"
Today, I filed my 65th lawsuit against the Trump administration to stop an illegal order that an oil company is using to restart the flow of oil pipelines along California's coast.
If that's all you need to hear, join our fight today with a contribution of any amount.
These are the same pipelines tied to the Refugio oil spill — one of the worst environmental disasters our state has seen in decades. After that spill, courts put strict safeguards in place to protect our communities, our coastline, and our public health.
Now, the Trump administration is trying to override those protections so a private company can restart operations and turn a profit.
They're trying to ignore state law, override court orders, and sidestep a federal court-approved consent decree. That's not how the law works, and it's why we're taking them to court.
Our lawsuit makes clear that this order violates the Administrative Procedure Act, exceeds authority under the Defense Production Act, infringes on California's rights under the Tenth Amendment, and violates the Constitutional Separation of Powers.
But this case is also about more than legal arguments. It's about whether oil industry interests get to dictate what happens to our coast — and of course, whether the Trump administration gets to act outside and above the law.
I won't just stand by and watch all that happen, so we're fighting back.
If you're with me, I'm asking you to support our work today. Will you contribute before our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline? You can give at this link: secure.actblue.com/donate/rb-email-26
