It's Governor Wes Moore.
Five years ago, I had never run for political office. I was a former Army Captain, a dad to two young kids, and I ran one of the largest poverty-fighting organizations in the country.
But I knew more had to be done. While career politicians were saying that everything was great, I was hearing from folks all across Maryland who were feeling left behind. So I ran for Governor with a mission to make Maryland a state that serves all our people — and won. (And I'm not done yet!)
Our mission must continue this year. I'm running for re-election so we can keep building on the progress we've made on jobs, education, public safety, and more. There are tough fights on the horizon, and there's so much more for us to accomplish together.
We're making real progress — investing historic amounts in public education, bringing down costs for working families, and making our communities safer.
But we're still in the federal government's line of sight. Donald Trump has attacked me before, and he and his powerful GOP allies are going to do everything possible to flip our state back to red come November. This election could be an uphill battle.
This powerful team has never backed down from a fight and I know you are not about to start now. We have to hit the ground running, because our momentum now determines how we're able to run the rest of this campaign.
It's time for us to come together again, across regions and party lines, to prove to a dysfunctional Washington that there's a better way forward.
Elevate,
Wes
