Here’s to 2020!

This weekend, Amy and I worked with 30 volunteers in our home in our first Powered by People event.

Dear Jason,

This weekend, Amy and I worked with 30 volunteers in our home in our first Powered by People event.

These amazing El Paso volunteers made hundreds of phone calls to voters in Fort Bend County to let them know about Dr. Eliz Markowitz and her campaign to represent House District 28 in the Texas legislature.

Volunteers for Eliz Markowitz at Beto's House

I loved the energy, the commitment and the passion from the volunteers. And I loved making phone calls alongside them. My favorite was to a young voter named Stephanie.

  • "Hi, this is Beto O'Rourke calling on behalf of Dr. Eliz Markowitz."
  • "Shut up!"
  • "No really, this is Beto. And we really need you to vote on the first day of early voting, January 21, for Dr. Markowitz."
  • "OK! I'm on it!"

I spoke with a man named Khaled who not only promised to vote for Eliz, he offered to put a group together to listen to her speak so that she could reach more voters in his circle of family and friends.

I talked with Bethany who was with her three children when I called. After she committed to vote for Eliz, I asked her if she would volunteer with us.

"I've never knocked on doors before, that sounds kind of intimidating," she told me. I assured her that it's as simple as introducing yourself to your neighbors and telling them about the importance of this election. She thought about it for a second and then said, "I'm in."

It was a good day, the volunteers, the voters, the progress we made.

We will follow up yesterday's effort with more phone banks, more block walks, and more direct voter engagement. It's how we'll help Dr. Markowitz win her race, and it's how we'll help other courageous candidates running across Texas.

I hope you'll commit to joining us in this effort - Powered by People - in 2020. If we all pitch in, we can win the Texas state house, pick up more seats in Congress, defeat John Cornyn and ensure that the Democratic nominee against Trump can win Texas' 38 electoral college votes.

We'll do this by organizing and mobilizing everyday Texans to help their neighbors register to vote, commit to vote, and actually vote on Election Day.

It's our best chance to do what this state and this country needs at this critical moment.

Happy New Year! I'm excited to work with you in 2020.

Join me to win in Texas and defeat Trump

Dear Jason,

I've spent these last two days in Fort Bend county, Texas working on the most important election you've never heard of.

Eliz MarkowitzEliz Markowitz is running a campaign in Fort Bend to serve in the Texas legislature. If she wins her special election on January 28th, she will move us one seat closer to Democratic control of the state house for the first time since 2001. And because this seat has always been a shoe-in for Republicans, her victory would signal a sea change for Texas leading into the 2020 general election.

I know from experience that grassroots organizing, door-to-door block walking, and direct voter engagement is the best way to get this done. That's how I've won long shot races in the past, it's how I won more votes than any Democrat in Texas history in 2018, and it's how we're going to help Eliz win this race.

And it's why I'm starting a new grassroots organization, Powered by People, to help candidates like Eliz by bringing together volunteers from around the state to work on the most important races in Texas.

Because it's bigger than just one election.

If we win in Fort Bend, it will inspire the confidence, financial support and volunteer turnout to pick up the 8 additional seats we need to control the state house and make progress on gun violence, healthcare, education and climate.

It will give us a shot at picking up as many as 6 additional seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

It will show the rest of Texas that we can finally replace John Cornyn, Trump's most reliable enabler, in the U.S. Senate.

And it will help energize the broad grassroots support necessary for the Democratic Presidential nominee to win Texas' 38 electoral college votes — our best shot at defeating Trump and Trumpism forever.

I will spend this next year focusing on this extraordinary opportunity through Powered by People. I would love for you to join me.

Powered by People will organize grassroots volunteers to do the tough, necessary work that wins elections: registering Texans to vote (especially those that have just moved to Texas and those who are just turning 18), knocking on their doors, making phone calls, and connecting the dots so that we all understand that in order to make progress on the issues we care most about — like gun violence, healthcare and climate — we will have to register, volunteer and vote.

Together, we will help Eliz win her race, help Democrats win control of the State house, elect more Democrats to Congress and work to defeat Donald Trump in Texas.

And if we are successful, we will not only win these important races in 2020, we will also develop the statewide infrastructure to ensure that we have sustainable majorities into the foreseeable future.

Something happened Monday night as I was block walking in Fort Bend with Eliz that made me feel good about what Powered by People can accomplish. The last door we knocked on in the Cinco Ranch subdivision was Lynda's. She greeted us with a smile, introduced us to her three kids and then told me that she'd volunteered for us in 2018 and is ready to get involved again. Afterwards she found us on Instagram and sent us this note:

My neighbor and I (whose husband invited you in) block walked for Beto's senate campaign - the first time either of us had ever even considered doing something like that. It was an incredibly eye opening experience for me personally, but also to see how difficult the job can be. Thanks to Beto for motivating me to get out of my comfort zone. I follow politics closely and can easily feel overwhelmed by all the negativity and by what feels like a complete rejection of things that keep our democracy strong. Seeing you guys gave me (and my neighbor, Margie) the boost we needed! Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you and Beto and your families. All the best, Lynda

I hope that you will join me and Powered by People today to that we can connect the tens of thousands of people like Lynda across Texas who want to make sure that we come through at this moment of truth for our state and our country.

I'm looking forward to working with you again.

Washington or Trump?

Dear Jason,

There's a painting that hangs in the Capitol rotunda depicting General George Washington in front of the Continental Congress 236 years ago, resigning his commission as the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army.

The artist, John Trumbull, believed that it illustrated "one of the highest moral lessons ever given to the world."

Why?

Because here was a man at the height of his powers, a man who had led America to a stunning defeat of the most powerful military on the planet, a man who could have made the case to be commander for life, or even King, a case that would have resonated with many in a young, unstable country still not free from the military threat of Great Britain or foreign interference in our affairs… who nonetheless voluntarily resigned his commission and gave up his power.

He did it for the greater good of this nascent democracy and in support of the idea that no man is above the law or the will of the people as expressed through their elected representatives.

He knew that if this great experiment, this profound idea of America, was going to work, then at this decisive moment he must set the example.

And though he failed abjectly in other defining moral tests — he owned enslaved people, failed to work for the abolition of slavery, and in so doing set a perverse example and standard that would require a civil war to overcome — this precedent that personal ambition would be subjugated to the interests of the republic allowed us to inherit a government, as John Adams described it, "of laws, not of men."

This precedent also helped to inspire a Constitution that provides protection against those who would put their own interests ahead of the country's, including provision for impeachment of the commander-in-chief should they abuse the power of their office.

The idea of self-government and the Constitution that guarantees it were fought for and defended by succeeding generations of Americans. The service members who lost their lives in the Civil War, and in the World Wars that followed, paid the ultimate price to see this idea through. So did the civil rights marchers, the freedom riders, the men and women and even children who forced this country to move closer to realizing it for everyone by adopting the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act in 1964 and 1965.

We have inherited the service and sacrifice of those who came before us. What we choose to do with this inheritance will define us for future generations and will be the example we pass on to our children and grandchildren.

Which brings us to this moment and the choice we have before us.

We now have a President who has abused his office and the public trust to pursue personal and political gain. We have a President who has defied the government of the people, obstructed the pursuit of justice, and welcomed foreign interference into the most sacred aspect of self-government, our elections.

We also have a Congress that has introduced articles of impeachment to hold him accountable.

Here is the challenge, and ultimately, the choice.

Despite his flagrant abuse of the public trust (none of the key facts are in dispute, in part because he has so openly flouted the law and the constitution), Donald Trump has faced no consequences from his own political party. Like a cult of personality, Republican members of Congress have prioritized their leader over their country and their oath to defend the Constitution.

But surely those who support President Trump's defiance of our institutions, of the Constitution, of the rule of law; who turn a blind eye to the facts in order to focus on partisan advantage and short term political gain; who operate in fear for their political careers at the expense of their duty to this country… must at some level realize that they squander the sacrifice and example of service we have all inherited as Americans. And unless they change course, they may find themselves responsible for the loss of this singular exception to the rule of human history: a government that aspires to be of the people, by the people and for the people.

Now that articles of impeachment have been presented to Congress, it is up to every one of us to apply maximum pressure on our elected representatives to do the right thing by holding the President to account. To remind them of our country's history, of their sworn duty to defend the Constitution, and the need to follow the facts and impeach the President, whatever the personal or political cost.

A resounding vote for impeachment, joined by Democrats and Republicans, puts the country first and helps set an example for Senators of both parties to do the right thing in the trial that will follow.

Members of Congress who show courage and sacrifice, including Republicans who defy their leader in favor of their country, will long be remembered for saving this country when it needed it most. Maybe even memorialized in a painting depicting their sacrifice that could hang in the Capitol in years to come, offering another "high moral lesson" for future generations.

If we fail, we replace the precedent of Washington with that of Trump. Sacrifice and service replaced with corruption. And I guarantee you, not only would that failure embolden Trump to continue to defy the Constitution and invite more foreign involvement in our elections — it will almost certainly mean that future Presidents will feel free to do the same.

This country… any future we have as a democracy… depends on all of us doing the right thing at this defining moment of truth.

How do we take Texas back?

Throughout the week we had seen giant beams of light moving through the night sky over El Paso and Ciudad Juárez.

Dear Jason,

Last year 17 Texas State House Republicans won their election by less than 10 points. We can flip these seats by reaching un-registered Democrats.

There are almost 90,000 people in these 17 target districts who have voted Democrat in the past but aren't registered to vote at their current address.

We only have to win nine of these seats for Democrats to have a majority in the Texas legislature. Victories in these districts will mean an end to racist gerrymandering, and a chance to address gun violence, reproductive rights, Medicaid expansion, criminal justice and climate change in Texas.

Your donation will be used to send them pre-filled voter registration forms with stamped return envelopes.

Donate to Flip the Texas HouseFlip the Texas House is an organization that came out of our 2018 Senate campaign, "Beto Ambassadors" who are committed to ensuring that Texas lives up to its potential at this defining moment of truth. I couldn't be more proud of what they're doing.

Their work will also be very positive for Congressional races, helping us to hold two newly won seats and picking up more — 6 seats were won by Republicans with margins under 5%.

And these newly registered Democrats will help us make Texas competitive for our Presidential nominee.

In 2018, I carried nine of the 17 districts now represented by Republicans. So we know that we can do this.

We just need your help to make sure that we make the most of this opportunity.

Please donate to help register known Democrats in Texas — it will help us take control of the state legislature, win more seats in Congress and help deliver Texas for the Democratic presidential nominee!

Happy Thanksgiving

Throughout the week we had seen giant beams of light moving through the night sky over El Paso and Ciudad Juárez.

Dear Jason,

Throughout the week we had seen giant beams of light moving through the night sky over El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. Saturday night after Ulysses' basketball game at the Delta center, we drove down to Bowie High School, where the lights on the El Paso side of the border originated, to learn more.

The lights it turned out were part of an installation known as "Border Tuner" or "Sintonizador Fronterizo." Participants here and at a location in Juárez were able to control the beams of light — and when a beam of light from El Paso intersected with a beam of light from Juárez, the participants on both sides of the border could suddenly hear each other and speak to each other.

At one point on Saturday night a DJ in El Paso was transmitting music on his beam of light and a woman in Juárez was singing along on hers. All of us could listen as their beams were joined.

A little later Amy and Ulysses and I stepped up to the mic and introduced ourselves to whoever might be listening on the other side.

"Hola, me llamo Beto. Como se llama usted?"

"Catalina" came the response from the other side of the river.

"Y cuantos años tiene, Catalina?"

"Diez."

"Yo tengo cuarenta y siete," I told her.

I then shared my kids' ages and asked her what sports she played:

"Tengo hijos de trece, once y nueve años. Cuales deportes juega, Catalina?"

"Taekwondo," she answered.

I encouraged Ulysses to speak. He stepped up to the mic and told her he played basketball, "yo juego baloncesto."

We then watched and listened as others spoke to people across the river through these beams of light. A family who followed us turned the dial that moved the light beam so that it connected with a different light beam from Juárez. A new conversation began, with a different family, about food and music.

There were tens of thousands of people on both sides of the border who participated, able to talk and listen to each other regardless of the political or national divisions or the physical distances. Sometimes profound conversations about history and art, sometimes playful conversations between young people who were getting to know one another (a young woman in Juárez asked a young man in El Paso, "eres guapo?"), sometimes collaborative music compositions, sometimes families talking about sports and their favorite kinds of foods (Catalina told us hers were tacos).

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, the artist who conceived the project, told me that he wasn't so much building bridges between Juárez and El Paso as he was illuminating the connections that already exist — connections of family, of history, of culture, of language, of people.

Border Tuner was beautiful and it helped us to remember or see in a different way how special the U.S.-Mexico border is. Not a place to be afraid of, not something to lock down or wall-off. It's a place to celebrate and share with one another. At its best it's an example of how people can be good to each other... a timely example given the divisions in our country and the willingness of some to try to make us believe our differences are dangerous.

It reminded me to be grateful for where I live and for the people of this binational community. And how important it is to tell our story, lest it be told for us or against us.

Amy and I are going to spend Thanksgiving in El Paso with family who will be coming in from all over. We're hoping to get in some great hikes in the Franklins, maybe see a couple of movies. Eat a lot of great food.

We hope that you and yours have a safe, restful and fulfilling Thanksgiving. I am grateful for you and for everyone I've had the chance to work with this year, for everyone who has volunteered for or supported our work, for everyone doing all that they can for this great country at its moment of truth.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Beto

Eliz

I've been on the ground with Eliz, knocking on doors in her district. I've seen the positive response this former educator gets from Democrats, Independents and even Republicans when she talks about improving public education, confronting climate change and investing in healthcare.

Hi Jason,

I'm writing about an important race here in Texas.

With our help, Eliz Markowitz can win a special runoff election and increase our chances of producing a Democratic majority in the Texas state house.

This has huge implications for 2020.

This election will be an initial test of our ability to win other races across the state, including for Congress and U.S. Senate. And — it will give us an indication of our ability to deliver Texas' 38 electoral votes to the Democratic nominee for president.

Though Donald Trump won House District 28 by ten points in 2016, Eliz came in first place in the election earlier this month against a number of well-funded Republicans.

But she is now in a runoff against a Republican who's loaned his campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars. Eliz is at serious risk of being outspent. And we are at risk at losing this great opportunity for Texas and the country.

Can you make a $10 donation right now to Eliz's campaign? Flipping House District 28 from red to blue could not be more important.

Contribute $10

I've been on the ground with Eliz, knocking on doors in her district. I've seen the positive response this former educator gets from Democrats, Independents and even Republicans when she talks about improving public education, confronting climate change and investing in healthcare.

You and I have seen firsthand what's possible when Texans come together to build a true grassroots campaign. We know that if enough of us step up to the plate and support her, Eliz can win District 28 and help us take back Texas and the country.

Thank you for making a donation today. It means a lot.

Rodney Reed

I'm reaching out in the interests of justice for a man who is about to be wrongly executed. On November 20th, the state of Texas plans to execute Rodney Reed despite overwhelming evidence that points to his innocence.

Hi Jason,

It's been over a week since I left the campaign trail and it's been so good being home with family and hearing all of your support. I'm grateful to have so many of you at my back. So today, I'm asking you to join me in helping someone else.

I'm reaching out in the interests of justice for a man who is about to be wrongly executed. On November 20th, the state of Texas plans to execute Rodney Reed despite overwhelming evidence that points to his innocence.

Governor Greg Abbott has the power to stop the execution. He's done it before, he can absolutely do it again. So our job is to make sure that we cause an outcry so loud, so united that Abbott has no choice but to listen to our demands and cancel the execution.

Here are the 2 best ways you can help save this man's life and put pressure on Governor Abbott:

  • Sign the petition. Add your name to the petition and join millions of other people in urgently demanding Governor Abbott to stop the execution.
  • Make phone calls. With only 8 days left, we need to ramp up the pressure and show the urgency of our demands.
    • Dial this Number: (512) 967-0567
    • With this number, you'll be connected to Governor Abbott's office and other influential people with the power to stop or delay Reed's execution. Before you're connected, you'll be provided some pointers on what to say during the call. If you get sent to voicemail, please leave a message and try calling again whenever you can.

Rodney Reed has been on death row since 1998, alleging him responsible for the murder and rape of Stacey Stites.

Since his arrest, Reed has faced mountains of unfair challenges –– not uncommon in our broken incarceration system –– in proving his innocence. He was repeatedly denied DNA testing that could support his case, critical pieces of evidence were withheld from his trial, and in the end an all-white jury convicted Reed. Despite his flawed trial and evidence from a new witness claiming that Stites' ex-fiancé admitted in prison that he's responsible for the murder of Stites, Reed remained on death row.

When you look at the facts Jason, it becomes painfully clear that going forward with executing Rodney Reed would be absolutely wrong.

It's our duty to stand up to this unfair, racist incarceration system and fight for every single human's right to find justice.

Please take a couple of minutes out of your day to sign the petition or call Governor Abbott's office before time runs out.

Thanks for your help,

Beto

Some news, and a thank you

Jason,

Our campaign has been about seeing clearly, speaking honestly and acting decisively in the best interests of America.

Though it is difficult to accept, it is clear to me now that this campaign does not have the means to move forward successfully. My service to the country will not be as a candidate or as the nominee. Acknowledging this now is in the best interests of those in the campaign; it is in the best interests of this party as we seek to unify around a nominee; and it is in the best interests of the country.

I decided to run for President because I believed that I could help bring a divided country together in common cause to confront the greatest set of challenges we've ever faced. I also knew that the most fundamental of them is fear — the fear that Donald Trump wants us to feel about one another; the very real fear that too many in this country live under; and the fear we sometimes feel when it comes to doing the right thing, especially when it runs counter to what is politically convenient or popular.

I knew, and I still know, that we can reject and overcome these fears and choose to instead be defined by our ambitions and our ability to achieve them.

I knew that we would have to be unafraid in how we ran the campaign. We'd have to run with nothing to lose. And I knew that our success would depend not on PACs or corporations but upon the grassroots volunteers and supporters from everywhere, especially from those places that had been overlooked or taken for granted.

We should be proud of what we fought for and what we were able to achieve.

Together we were able to help change what is possible when it comes to the policies that we care about and the country we want to serve. We released the first comprehensive plan to confront climate change of any of the presidential candidates; we took the boldest approach to gun safety in American history; we confronted institutional, systemic racism and called out Donald Trump for his white supremacy and the violence that he's encouraged against communities that don't look like, pray like or love like the majority in this country; and we were one of the first to reject all PAC money, corporate contributions, special interest donations and lobbyist help.

We proposed an economic program that focused on both equality and equity and would give every American the certainty that one job would be enough; and a healthcare plan that would guarantee that every one of us is well enough to live to our full potential.

We knew the only way our country would live up to its promise is if everyone could stand up to be counted. We released the most ambitious voter registration and voting rights plan, one that would bring 55 million new voters into our democracy, and remove barriers for those who've been silenced because of their race, ethnicity or the fact that they live with a disability.

We spoke with pride about El Paso and communities of immigrants. We elevated the plight and the promise of refugees and asylum seekers. And we proposed nothing short of rewriting this country's immigration laws in our own image, to forever free from fear more than 11 million of our fellow Americans who should be able to contribute even more to our shared success.

And at this moment of truth for our country, we laid bare the cost and consequence of Donald Trump: the rise in hate crimes, the terror attack in El Paso, the perversion of the Constitution, the diminished standing of the United States around the world. But we also made clear the common responsibility to confront him, to hold him accountable and ensure that he does not serve another term in office. Committing ourselves to this task not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans first before we are anything else.

I am grateful to each one of you, and to all the people who made up the heart and soul of this campaign. You were among the hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans who made a donation, signed up to volunteer or spread the word about this campaign and our opportunity to help decide the election of our lifetime.

You have been with me from the beginning, through it all. I know that you did it not for me personally, not for the Democratic Party, but for our country at this defining moment. Though today we are suspending this campaign, let us each continue our commitment to the country in whatever capacity we can.

Let us continue to fearlessly champion the issues and causes that brought us together. Whether it is ending the epidemic of gun violence or dismantling structural racism or successfully confronting climate change before it is too late, we will continue to organize and mobilize and act in the best interests of America.

We will work to ensure that the Democratic nominee is successful in defeating Donald Trump in 2020. I can tell you firsthand from having the chance to know the candidates, we will be well served by any one of them, and I'm going to be proud to support whoever that nominee is.

And proud to call them President in January 2021, because they will win.

We must support them in the race against Donald Trump and support them in their administration afterwards, do all that we can to help them heal a wounded country and bring us together in meeting the greatest set of challenges we have ever known.

I'm confident I will see you down the road, and I look forward to that day.

Thank you for making this campaign possible, and for continuing to believe that we can turn this moment of great peril into a moment of great promise for America and the world.

With you always, and forever grateful.

Update: Beto’s chances

Jason, we know that Beto can catch up and qualify, but it truly depends on how willing our supporters are to fight for it.

Beto for America

Jason,

Here's the latest November Debate update.

Beto still needs 2 more qualifying polls to join the November debate. One candidate is already a step ahead of him to reaching the final requirement.

Debate Update

Jason, we know that Beto can catch up, but it truly depends on how willing our supporters are to fight for it.

We don't have any time to waste: if we want Beto to be on that debate stage in November, we have to make our fundraising deadline (11:59 PM EST tonight) and get the resources we need to rescue our chances of qualifying. Please chip in $10 before it's too late.

Contribute $10

We are so close to our goal!

– Team Beto

Are you with us, Jason?

I'm so proud of our team, and how fearless you all have been in fighting for our values and for the future we want for this country.  But there's one last favor I want to ask of you before October ends:

Jason,

As we wrap up this month, I'm thinking about everything we've accomplished this October. I'm so proud of our team, and how fearless you all have been in fighting for our values and for the future we want for this country.

But there's one last favor I want to ask of you before October ends: we're $30,000 short from reaching our end-of-month goal. This might seem like a lot, but there's a lot of you. If everyone chips in even just $4.00 I know we can do it, please spare anything you can now.

Together, we've made major strides in helping Beto confront Trump's petty fear and hatred, advocate for a plan that will address the opioid crisis & war on drugs in our country, call for transformative justice, challenge this idea that we can't be bold and courageous in our politics, and push forward in the fight for meaningful, effective gun reform.

But to be honest with you, this month also brought a wave of new challenges. Because our campaign isn't afraid to take on the big fights or say what we really believe –– Beto has become the top target of the Republican party. Groups like the NRA have made our campaign the top target of attack ads and disinformation campaigns –– making it difficult for us to get the polls we need to qualify for the November debate.

We're determined to fight back and keep pushing forward in this race, but all of this depends on whether we have the resources to do it. We can't do this without you Jason: will you please chip in $4.00 and help us hit our end-of-month fundraising goal tonight?

Let's do this together.

Brand new polls

New polls are being conducted and we need to do everything possible to make sure Beto is on people's minds when they answer them.

Beto for America

Jason,

Tomorrow marks the beginning of November, which means brand new polls will be conducted to see where each candidate is to start the new month. This is a big opportunity for us to meet the DNC's final requirement to qualify for the November debate so Beto can join nine other candidates on the stage.

But in order to do that, we need to ensure the people being polled say Beto's name when asked who they like. We have an aggressive grassroots plan to make sure they do — with a big ad push, door-to-door engagement by our organizers, and other proven strategies. But our ability to carry out each part of this plan really depends entirely on how much we raise before midnight tonight. The more we raise, the more people we can reach before they're polled.

Will you chip in $10 so we can reach voters before the next polls are conducted? Every dollar you pitch in before midnight tonight will go towards running a robust campaign that ensures we do everything possible to qualify for debates.

Contribute $10

Here's what the data shows:

  • In June, polls were conducted on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of the month
  • In August, FOUR polls started asking voters for their choice on the 1st
  • In September, there were FIVE polls conducted during the first week
  • And in October, there were FOUR more polls during just the first six days

Jason, we we know pollsters will start asking voters what they think in the next couple of days — they could even start tomorrow. And with little time left to qualify for the November debate, we need to make the absolute most of each poll that's being conducted. Our organizers are ready to hit doors. Our ads are set to go up online. All that's left to decide is how much we can invest in them.

At the end of the day, we'll make a decision on what we can afford to do. Will you rush $10 to help us reach voters across the country as we fight for Beto's place on the November debate stage? Every dollar counts as we do everything possible to meet the DNC's requirements.

Thanks,
Team Beto

FWD: $4.80

This is how close we are to helping Beto qualify for the debate, us having the resources to fight Trump's attack ads, and making sure we don't have to slash funds from the budget next month.

Beto for America

Jason,

Yesterday we told you that if everyone reading our email chipped in even just $4.80, we could pull this off and hit our end-of-month fundraising goal.

We just refreshed the page and this is how close we are now

There's still time to close the gap (less than 9 hours!), but we were serious that we need every single person reading to chip in to make this happen.

Will you please sacrifice $4.80 and do your part today for Team Beto?

We're cutting it close — but if everyone reading this email chipped in even just $4.80 we can instantly hit our goal.

Will you please make a sacrifice today and give to our campaign $4.80 or anything you can? Every dollar makes a difference.

Contribute $4.80, Jason

So close to our goal!

More importantly, this is how close we are to:

→ Getting the resources we need to qualify Beto for the November debate (there's only 2 weeks left before the deadline)

→ Having enough money to keep fighting against the storm of attack ads Trump and the NRA have launched against our campaign (we've been the top target of their attack ads, spreading lies about Beto's campaign)

→ Making sure we don't have to slash funds from our organizing teams or early state ads (these programs are critical to building our momentum on the ground)

So we hope you believe us Jason when we say that our end-of-month fundraising goal isn't just a big number we want to brag about that we reached. It's what we need to keep running this campaign and make sure Beto stays competitive in this race. Please chip in $10 or anything you can before our deadline tomorrow night.

Contribute, Jason
