They’re spending BIG against us

The truth is that we could be massively outspent if we don't act now. Other candidates are pouring BIG money into TV and digital ads:

Joe Biden just booked $339k more in TV ads in Iowa.
Kamala Harris is up with another $117k in TV ads.
Tom Steyer, the self-funder, spent a staggering $12 million on ads!

BIG update

Ok so last night we sent out an email announcing our goal of reaching 9,031 contributions by midnight on August 31. Here's where we're at:

Charts! They're good! 2,598 contributions down -- whatever 9,031 minus that number is left to go (I'm bad at math sorry)! I'm stoked, Jason. I wasn't sure we'd be able to hit this goal, but now it's looking increasingly likely if we can keep up the pace.

Every campaign's gotta raise money. I'm proud of the way we do it. Our money is coming from "The People." People like you giving to emails like this one. We aren't kowtowing to DC lobbyists or big political action committees. We don't have a super PAC bankrolling us on the side.

It's just me, and you, and Jessica from Allen, TX (hi Jessica!). It's Neal in Los Angeles, CA (hi Neal!) and Mary in Morton Grove, IL (hi Mary!) and Artemis from El Paso, TX (hi Artemis!). That's who funds this campaign -- and it's a pretty dang special group of people who are ready to build a new kind of politics.

Politico just reported:

Politico just posted an in-depth report on the 2020 candidates' schedules. You have to read what they said about Beto:

"Nobody has packed in near the number of stops as Beto O'Rourke."

"Notably, O'Rourke didn't have the in-person fundraising burdens of several others."

"O'Rourke has been everywhere."

This is a campaign that's going places...LOTS of places. We can do that because we raise so much of our funds online. Beto doesn't have to spend his time dialing for dollars or schmoozing at events, because most of our money comes from emails like this one.

So today, we're asking again: Can you donate $10? We need just 8,281 more contributions to reach the goal we told you about yesterday.

When you run for office, the typical DC consultants will tell you you're supposed to spend about HALF your day making fundraising phone calls or attending fundraising events. Because all of you have given so much to Beto online, we can keep the "call time" and fundraising events to a minimum. It's a huge weight off Beto's shoulders. It means he can hold more town halls and visit more states.

But here's the thing. If we don't hit our August goal before the month is up, we're going to be in trouble. We don't want to have to scale back our plans. We want to be able to run the all-out campaign we're running.

There are only a couple of days left before we close the books on our August fundraising. Meeting our budget goal is absolutely critical — we can't fall short.

Our average contribution recently is $26.01. So we need about 9,031 contributions to hit the right amount of money to meet our budget. Is that doable in the time we've got? We're honestly not sure, but we have to try.

Closing out a difficult month

Jason,

This has been a difficult, emotional month. What happened in El Paso lit a new fire under us. It showed our entire campaign how consequential this fight is. President Trump's racism does not just offend our sensibilities; it fundamentally changes the character of this country. And it leads to violence.

So as we close out August, I am more determined than ever to win this race. What it's going to take is meeting every single goal from here on out. Falling short, even by a little, is no longer an option.

Early this month, we took a necessary break from the campaign trail and from our fundraising. But now we need to pick up our pace, and that's why I have to ask for your help before the August deadline.

An incredibly ambitious goal

Jason, this is how we're going to win.

After Beto took two weeks away from the campaign earlier this month to be with El Paso in the healing process, we knew we were going to have to work hard to catch up.

To get things back on track, we set an incredibly ambitious goal before the end of the month. And we've made amazing progress, all thanks to our grassroots community stepping up.

However, while we're very close, we're still short of where we need to be. Can you give $10 to help us close the gap and reach our goal before the month ends?

Thanks to people giving generously, we were able to put our organizers back out in the field, re-launch our ad campaigns, and return to making calls and knocking on doors.
