Working in "campaign finance" usually means long days of "call time" with a candidate, where a politician spends hours dialing for dollars. Usually, candidates are asking for checks of $5,000 or more per person, and oftentimes lobbyists and corporate PACs are first on the call list.
Because Katie doesn't take corporate PAC or federal lobbyist money, we do things differently. 85% of our fundraising comes from our online fundraising program—which includes emails like these, texts, and ads that ask people to contribute, and 99% of all our contributions are of $100 or less.
That's something we're proud of (and Katie is leading the way for other candidates to do the same). But there's a real downside to running a grassroots-funded campaign: it can be volatile.

Our fundraising really fluctuates based on the news cycle and how supporters respond to our messaging. But with just 26 days until our primary, we really can't afford these slow days. They have a real and immediate effect at this point in the race—bad days mean we have to scale back our ads.
