On Valentine's Day 2018, my three kids and I filed my petitions to run for Congress for the very first time. Looking at these pictures now I see how much the kids have grown—my oldest is headed off to college in the fall!
I don't stand for the BS of Washington because there's a real cost to me every time I get on that plane—leaving my kids behind.
I first ran for Congress because as a consumer protection attorney I saw how beholden Washington was to corporate special interests, and how those special interests were making it difficult for families to get ahead.
Each time I've raised my hand to run again, I've done so because I truly believe that we can make a difference. Because I've seen how desperately Washington needs someone to shake it up. I'm in this fight because I don't want my kids to continue to grow up with fewer rights than I had at their age. I don't want them to have to leave California as adults because they can't afford to live here. And I don't want them to go to school in fear of gun violence.
That's why I'm running in the most difficult race of my life. In the past week, two separate super PACs have placed massive ad buys against us. We're at risk of being drowned out and losing our primary on March 5th.
So, on the anniversary of a Valentine's Day that I'll never forget—I'm wondering if you can chip in $5, $15, or even $50. It would mean so much, and can help us pull ahead in these final 20 days of the race.
