Friend, No matter how hard our administration is working, I'm never too busy to play football in the front yard of Government House or to share dinners on Saturday nights with my family. Family is everything to me. It's why I get up in the morning. It's how I overcome tough challenges. And it is what inspired me to run for Governor. Seeing my mom raise our family on her own after my dad's passing – and now raising my kids Mia and James alongside my wife Dawn – I know firsthand just how hard families in this state work to get by. That's why I'm proud of the big things we've done together for Maryland families in our time in office so far. → We created an economic cushion for more than 150,000 Maryland families by passing the Fair Wage Act. → We are lifting more than 37,000 Maryland children to the next rung of the economic ladder with programs to end child poverty. → We protected our communities from gun violence by signing new gun safety laws. → We are empowering and giving purpose to the next generation by creating a first-in-the-country program offering a paid year of service for high school graduates. As Governor, I get to travel across the state and hear from so many families about how we can keep building a stronger Maryland.
