My daughter is running for governor of California because she feels called to take on the struggles so many families like her own face.

This is Liz Porter, Katie's mom.
Today, I want to share a little about raising Katie and falling in love with quilting. But first, can you chip in $5 to my daughter's campaign for governor today?
When I was raising Katie and her siblings, like any family with young kids, nothing I did stayed done. Cooking didn't stay done. Changing diapers didn't stay done. Picking up toys definitely didn't stay done.
But when I sewed two pieces of fabric together, they stayed together. That's how I fell in love with quilting.
I took that passion for keeping things together and built a quilting small business that eventually meant people recognized me in public—much to the annoyance of my kids. When I see Katie stopped in public (much to the annoyance of her kids), it makes me proud. She's channeled her passions into building lasting change for everyday Californians.
I like quilting for the same reasons Katie found her home in consumer law and public service: when life feels overwhelming, focus your energy on the things where you can truly make a difference.
My daughter is running for governor of California because she feels called to take on the struggles so many families like her own face, like rising costs and an out-of-control president. She's running to be a champion for hardworking Californians.
I know my daughter will do what's right for California, just like I've watched her stand up for working people her whole life. I hope you'll join me in supporting her campaign by chipping in $5 today.

Liz Porter
