Yesterday, the Supreme Court failed to put an end to Texas' SB 8 — one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country that places a $10,000 bounty on anyone who supports someone trying to exercise their basic right to control their own health and decide their own future.
While abortion providers will be able to challenge this law, Texans will continue to be put in danger every single day that SB 8 stays in effect. Let's be clear: This is part of a years-long campaign to radically control women's health care across the country that Governor Greg Abbott has proudly helped lead.
The closure of reproductive health care clinics across Texas in recent years has meant it is more difficult to have a safe abortion, but it also means it is more difficult to receive a cervical cancer screening, tougher to obtain birth control, and harder for people to get basic information on reproductive health care. Jason, the disappearance of reproductive rights for Texans threatens the autonomy, health, and lives of millions of people.
