3 things you may not know.
Hey, you may know Katie Porter as the woman who brings a whiteboard to congressional hearings. But here are a few things you may not know:
- Katie's daughter Betsy was named after Elizabeth Warren. Senator Warren was actually one of Katie's professors during law school, and now Katie considers her a mentor and partner in Washington.
- Katie is the proud owner and operator of a minivan. But it's not just any minivan. Her license plate says 'OVRSITE.' Keep an eye out for her if you're driving around Orange County!
- You might know Katie for her whiteboard. She brings it to congressional hearings, and it's been used to take down more than one Big Pharma executive and some former Trump Administration cabinet members. Katie's a big fan of the whiteboard because as a former teacher she was using one for years prior to being elected. She even carries one in her purse.
Katie recently announced she's running for the U.S. Senate. She's running because Californians deserve a warrior fighting for them in Washington.
Katie isn't like most Members of Congress. Not just because she's a single mom of three school aged kids. She's one of the few Members who doesn't take a dime of lobbyist money. She was the only Democrat to oppose earmarks (a way of funding Members' pet projects), and she's leading the fight to ban congressional stock trading. Katie has spent her career fighting to lower costs and hold special interests accountable, but she's just getting started.
