I've been told I'm an underdog in this race, and when I hear that I look around the room…because I don't think of myself as an underdog. And I'm not, because I have all of you on our team.
But I'm not naive to the challenges this race presents. Polling has us just two points behind another candidate, a small and certainly not insurmountable gap.
A bright spot in that poll is the fact that I'm leading the county I represent in Congress by nine points. When I'm able to introduce myself to voters, we gain a clear advantage. That's why I'm asking for your support to help us ramp up our campaign and get our message out there.

I don't "do Congress" like most people do. I was the only Democrat in the House to oppose "earmarks," a way of funding Members' pet projects. I'm leading the fight to ban congressional stock trading, and I'm one of just eleven Members of Congress who doesn't take checks from lobbyists.
