South Asian Americans are a powerful and crucially important force for progressive change.
We've got a secret weapon, Jason.
South Asian Americans are a powerful and crucially important force for progressive change. Here are a few things about South Asians in America:
- they're the fastest-growing racial voting bloc in America 📈
- they're more likely to vote 🗳️
- they hold progressive values 🔵
- but sadly, they're still often overlooked 👎
In 2020, we saw turnout nearly DOUBLE in South Asian communities compared to 2016 – especially in Georgia, where 30,000 Asian Americans voted for the first time ever. Two-thirds of these Desi voters cast their ballots for Democrats, and if you can recall, they made a huge difference in the balance of Senate and Presidential races that year.
Now, Ashwin Ramaswami is running for State Senate in Georgia this year against one of Trump's fake electors who's a sitting State Senator. If Ashwin wins, he'd be the first Indian-American elected to anything higher than city council in the Peach State AND the first Gen Z in the state Senate. As a proud member of the South Asian community, Ashwin has the potential to turn out Desi voters who can tip other key races this cycle. He's our secret weapon to unlocking this sleeping giant of a community. Especially given how many South Asian Americans Ashwin has met who are voting for the first time ever or Democratic for the first time because they finally get to vote for someone who shared their lived experience and culture.
But in order to unlock this blue wave, Ashwin needs to reach voters ASAP! His campaign will need resources for TV and digital ads, mailiers, canvassing efforts and so much more to reach every voter in his district.
That's where you come in, Jason. Will you make a $5 contribution to Leaders We Deserve so that we can help Ashwin reach every last voter and unlock the same sleeping giant (the South Asian American community) that tipped the scales in 2020?

If Ashwin is our secret weapon, you've got the means to help us unlock his full potential. We hope you'll help us do just that! Thank you for reading this email.
Thank you,
