There is a long history in this country of weaponizing religion to justify bigotry.
White supremacists have done it. Those who justified slavery did it. Those who fought against integration did it.
And we're seeing it today with the unprecedented attacks on the LGBTQ+ community.
I am tired of the only time religious freedom is invoked is in the name of bigotry and discrimination. It is not up to legislators to deny medical care.
It is up to us to feed the hungry, to clothe the poor, to protect children, and to love all people as ourselves.
This Pride Month, we're standing up for two grassroots community organizations who are defending LGBTQ+ rights, empowering our most vulnerable, and providing young people with a safe space to flourish.
