It's hot outside. Like, really hot:
Across California, dozens of communities have broken daily heat records since the start of July. Some areas experienced their hottest days on record. In Palm Springs, temperatures hit 124 degrees last week.
Climate change is here. And if we don't take action, it's going to get exponentially worse. Big Oil executives have spent millions of dollars to buy D.C. politicians and block action on the climate crisis. As anyone who has been outside in California this month can tell you, they've been successful.
Truth to Power is working to reverse Big Oil's influence in Congress. We're electing leaders who refuse to take money from Big Oil, who fight to ban lobbyists from bribing our elected officials, and who will hold the fossil fuel industry accountable once in office.
Washington politicians have taken millions in contributions from Big Oil. Many deny the existence of climate change altogether—even as it unfolds before our very eyes.
Climate change is dangerous for all of us. For the most vulnerable Americans, it's especially deadly: Those who don't have AC during a heat wave—or shelter during a hurricane—are most susceptible to the devastating harms of the climate crisis.
For millions of Americans, ending Big Oil's influence over our elected officials is no less than an existential issue. The longer it takes us to get it done, the hotter our summers are going to get.
