Congress wasn't built for people like me. When I first got to Washington, I was the only single mom of school-age kids serving. There were groups like the Bourbon Caucus and the Beer Caucus—but not a caucus focused on lowering the cost of higher education.
And while at times that is frustrating, I didn't come to Washington to play by the rules. I came to Washington to shake things up, and that's what I've been able to do thanks to the support of Porter Supporters like you.
With my whiteboard in tow, we've not only called out skyrocketing CEO pay and brought life to Congressional hearings, but also passed new laws to lower drug costs, raise rates on polluters, and strengthen our economy. The whiteboard is a tool to bridge ideological divides, get everyone on the same page with a shared set of facts, and invite people into conversations with some of the most powerful people in America about the challenges families face.
Now, I need your help to elect a new wave of candidates who will carry on my work in Washington.
Today marks the halfway point of July. And although Election Day might still seem far away, the truth is that November's critical races aren't going to be decided in November. Or October. Or even September.
They're going to be decided right now. Long before Election Day, early organizing, fundraising, outreach, and voter registration efforts will determine whether or not our candidates prevail this fall.
All of those efforts cost money. So as we pass the midpoint of July and enter the critical organizing period that will make or break races across the country, can you chip in to ensure that we have the resources to support our endorsed candidates?
