The Biden administration recently announced a plan to put an end to coal leasing on federal reserves — this is a huge win for our movement.1
The proposed plan is a step in the right direction and would affect leases in Wyoming and Montana.
Right now, oil, gas, and coal fields produce dangerous fossil fuels that are rapidly transforming our climate, and creating more fossil fuel projects will only make the crisis worse. We must end our reliance on fossil fuels.
We cannot address the climate emergency by expanding fossil fuel production and embracing fossil fuel industry scams like carbon capture, fossil fuel hydrogen, and carbon offsets. These false solutions harm communities for economic gain. A Green New Deal does not include new fossil fuel projects or the fast-tracking of fossil fuel permitting.
But the good news is that people across the nation are standing with communities most impacted by oil and gas drilling and demanding an end to fossil fuel projects. We're ramping up our work to put more pressure on the federal government to act on addressing the climate crisis.
