On Tuesday, Israeli settlers carrying American-made M4 rifles detained our delegation at gunpoint for more than an hour. When the Israeli military arrived, they stood with the settlers instead of protecting those being threatened.
It was a glimpse into what many Palestinian families endure every day. If this can happen to an American member of Congress, imagine what life is like for Palestinians who have no smartphones, no security, and no national platform.
We didn't go to seek trouble. We went to listen, to bear witness, and to tell the truth about what we saw.
