What a night!
From the moment the first polls closed on the East Coast, it was clear that Democrats were on the path to a historic victory. We took back the House and the Senate—a feat that was a long shot just a year ago—with stunning upset wins along the way.
I want to say thank you: Truth to Power backed a slate of champions running in some of the toughest races in the country, and many of them won last night. The support you provided helped us push them over the finish line and deliver victories many said were impossible. I am so proud of this team.
In the Senate, we helped elect Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota, Josh Turek in Iowa, and Troy Jackson in Maine—finally unseating Susan Collins and sending fearless new leaders to Washington.
In the House, we shattered the Republican majority by backing Rebecca Cooke, Sarah Trone Garriott, Christina Bohannan, Lindsay James, Brad Lander, Cait Conley, Will Lawrence, and Sam Forstag. Each of them ran the right way—listening to voters and fighting to lower costs for working families.
At home in California, we flipped seats that were newly winnable after voters passed Proposition 50. We sent Marni von Wilpert and Randy Villegas to Congress with a mandate to stand up for everyday people.
A handful of our targeted races are still too close to call. We’ll share updates with you once we know the results of those elections.
When I flipped a Republican district in 2018, we did it by rejecting corporate PAC money and fighting tirelessly for working families. Last night, our slate proved that it is still a winning playbook, and the way we build lasting political power.
Soon, Democrats will start using our majorities to block Donald Trump’s agenda and set the stage to take back the White House. But today, let's take a moment to enjoy this hard-fought victory. You made it happen.
