Amid the Omicron surge, Covid hospitalizations in Texas have doubled in the past two weeks. They've tripled among children, making Texas the national leader in child Covid hospitalizations for the second time in the past year.
But instead of protecting vulnerable Texans, especially our kids, Abbott has:
- Mandated that cities, counties, and public schools cannot require masks in the classroom and will be fined if they attempt to do so.
- Delayed support to local hospitals as they struggle to staff their ICUs.
- Insisted nothing needs to change about his (lack of a) pandemic response, even as cases and hospitalizations rise and our vaccination rate lags behind the nation.
Under Abbott's failed Covid-19 leadership, we've lost over 76,000 lives and are now sending hundreds of children to the hospital with severe illness. Texas urgently needs a leader focused on protecting us from this ever-changing virus, and that's what Beto will do as Governor.
