Jason,
Today, on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, reproductive rights for millions of Texans — and Americans — are under attack.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court once again declined to intervene and put an end to SB 8. It's one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country, which places a $10,000 bounty on anyone who supports someone trying to exercise their basic right to control their own health and decide their own future.
Plain and simple, the Supreme Court is refusing to protect the constitutional right of Texans to make their own health care decisions. To make this right in Texas, we've got to win this race and elect Beto as Texas' next Governor.
Beto won't back down when it comes to fully protecting Roe v. Wade, fighting anti-choice efforts to roll back reproductive health care, and defending the right to access a safe, legal abortion. But first, we have to build the people-powered campaign it will take to defeat Greg Abbott and put an end to this chaos and cruelty.
Texas already leads the country — and much of the developed world — in the rate of maternal mortality. And the closure of reproductive health care clinics across Texas in recent years has made it more difficult to have a safe abortion. But it also has made it more difficult for Texans to receive a cervical cancer screening, tougher to obtain birth control, and harder for people to get basic information on reproductive health care.
Jason, the disappearance of reproductive rights for Texans — proudly cheered on by Greg Abbott — threatens the autonomy, health, and lives of millions of people.
At this defining moment, with Roe v. Wade at stake in the courts, with more and more clinics being forced to shut their doors, we cannot turn our backs on the millions of people who are counting on us.
We cannot afford half measures or equivocation — the stakes are too high. Every donation brings us one step closer to defeating anti-choice Governor Greg Abbott, so I hope you will chip in to our campaign today.
Thank you,
Beto for Texas
