Jason,
Our healthcare system is broken. Americans spend an average of nearly $13,000 annually on healthcare, more than twice what people in other wealthy countries pay. Yet more than one-third of Americans have said they can't afford their prescriptions, and nearly forty percent skipped or delayed important medical care due to cost.
The United States is one of the few advanced democracies in the world that fails to guarantee healthcare to its citizens. In one of the world's wealthiest countries, people should have access to quality, affordable healthcare as a right, not a privilege.
As we continue to work on a federal solution, California could lead the way in this movement by passing the California Guaranteed Health Care for All Act, also known as CalCare. CalCare would establish a statewide single-payer system that provides all Golden State citizens, regardless of income or employment status, with access to comprehensive healthcare.
Tell the California Legislature: Pass CalCare.
The polls don't lie: Californians want CalCare. Big money in politics prevents it from becoming a reality. Big Pharma and major health insurance companies spend millions to influence California's state legislators and statewide officers. They turn a profit at the expense of everyday people.
No one should go without healthcare because they can't afford it. CalCare would put the health of our citizens first and ensure that nobody has to choose between their health and financial security.
Sign if you agree: Californians deserve CalCare.
Thank you for your activism and all that you do.
In solidarity,
Ro
