In a recent poll from Data for Progress, over 62% of voters believe that the oil and gas industry should be held accountable for its role in the climate crisis.1
That's over half of voters agreeing that we must tackle the climate crisis on all fronts — which includes holding accountable the industry responsible for putting greed over the safety of our communities.
We agree. We need to fight back against the influence of the fossil fuel industry, and we need to hold not only the industry but our elected officials accountable for their role in making the climate crisis worse.
Our elected officials are accountable to us and voters have made it extremely clear that the climate crisis is a top priority.
Elected officials' failure to take action to protect us from the devastating consequences of climate change has already resulted in damage to our infrastructure, declining health due to air pollution and, in some cases, even death.
This election is critical — if we don't elect legislators who will pass a Green New Deal, we will only get closer to the irreversible climate change threshold, and we'll lose any chance to make a meaningful impact.
