Jason,
As we near the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, let's reflect on what Pride Month means to queer Americans and the fight to protect and expand LGBTQ+ rights in the face of repression.
Policymakers in states like Texas, Florida, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Kansas have introduced over 500 bills in 2024 alone, preventing LGBTQ+ people, particularly transgender people, from living their fullest lives.
This includes banning gender-affirming care, outlawing drag shows, censoring school curricula (including banning books and preventing conversations on LGBTQ+ topics), and barring transgender individuals from public accommodations. By fanning the flames of homophobia, transphobia, and hate-fed violence, these legislators are shaming queer Americans out of public life.
The rights of LGBTQ+ Americans cannot be left up to state legislatures. Sign if you agree: Congress must take action to protect the LGBTQ+ community.
