Since 2019, March For Our Lives has demanded the president create a national office focused solely on ending gun violence. In 2023, we secured the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention!
This was a huge win that helped cities across the country respond to gun violence and allocated millions of dollars in federal grant money to communities in need.
And within his first month in office, Trump dismantled it.
But this fight is NOT over.
Congressman Maxwell Frost is helping to lead the fight to defend our progress. He just introduced a bill to re-establish the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which will:
- Convene an Advisory Council of gun violence experts — ranging from survivors to teachers to government officials;
- Coordinate gun violence prevention efforts across federal agencies;
- Make policy recommendations;
- Educate the public about federal laws, regulations, and available grant programs;
- And provide an annual report to Congress on gun violence, including recommendations on policy initiatives to reduce it.
We will not go backward! ✊
