Jason, I just got off the phone with Governor Walz.
He, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis are facing an investigation from Donald Trump's Department of Justice for "obstruction of justice."
And they're asking this team directly for our help: Please make a contribution to the Democratic Governors Association, which is leading the legal defense of this fight.
The Justice Department is going after Trump's enemies list. He ran on a campaign of revenge and retribution, and now he is attempting to deliver on that threat.
Let us be clear about what this means: Weaponizing the justice system to threaten political opponents is an authoritarian tactic.
It sets a dangerous precedent that undermines public trust in our institutions and distracts from the real issue at hand: ICE agents shot and killed Renee Good.
Immediately after the shooting, Governor Walz announced the state would ensure a full and fair investigation into the shooting of Renee Good.
For this, Governor Walz and other public servants will face legal and physical intimidation designed to scare them away from standing up to the President of the United States.
We can't let these tactics prevail. It will require all of us to stand up and push back directly against them.
