California needs to follow New York's lead and treat child care as the essential infrastructure it is. The cost of child care is often more than a college education, meaning parents have to choose between starting a family or pursuing their career.
If we want to grow our economy and step up for parents, we have to fund child care.
It's time to stop penalizing working families who are trying to make ends meet. California needs universal child care now.
