Our next grassroots fundraising deadline is approaching tonight at midnight. Before I ask if you can chip in a contribution, I hope you'll let me take a moment to explain what my job is and how your support makes a difference.
If you've ever wondered what an attorney general is, the Dictionary definition is:
But it's so much more than that.
As California's Attorney General, my position is two-fold: I serve as the People's Attorney and as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for our state. My goal is to keep our neighborhoods safe, hold corporate greed and wrongdoing accountable in court, and fight for the rights of every Californian.
For example, I've filed lawsuits against some of the biggest, most powerful corporations in the world (like Meta, Kroger and Albertsons, Spirit Airlines, and five of the largest oil companies, just to name a few) for harming workers, our children, and our environment.
I've taken legal action against misleadingly named "crisis pregnancy centers" and GOP-passed laws relentlessly attacking reproductive health and freedom for millions of people. I also sponsor legislation that will help improve the lives of Californians, including gun violence prevention measures and funding for crime victim services.
I could go on and on, but the point is: my job is to protect every Californian from bad actors and keep our state moving toward justice and progress.
It's a busy job, which is why donations from individuals like you to emails like this one are truly impactful. The more resources we can raise from this grassroots movement, the less time I have to worry about fundraising, and can instead focus on serving the people.
