Do you remember how hot summer 2023 was? It was the hottest year ever recorded, and this year is expected to be even hotter.1
On the heels of another abnormally warm winter featuring extreme weather across the country, the forecasts for this upcoming summer do not look good. If we don't take action for serious climate investments now, our communities will be faced with worsening climate disasters, extreme heat and cold, flooding, and more.
The reality is that extreme heat, brutal cold, severe flooding, and deadly wildfires are only going to get worse the longer our leaders wait to take action. There is no hiding from the truth: climate change is here, and it's responsible for more and more deaths every year.
The climate crisis is an economic crisis. With "heat-flation" driving up food costs, we need intersectional climate policy now more than ever.2 Rising costs due to inflation are only getting worse as extreme heat threatens to destroy crops across the country, which will result in a disproportionate impact on low-income communities and Black and Brown communities.
