Friend,
I wanted to take a moment to wish all moms and mother figures across the Commonwealth and the country a happy Mother's Day, and, especially to those in my own family.
To Terese, thank you for being my strongest supporter and a wonderful mother to Elyse, Caroline, Julia, and Marena. Our daughters hit the jackpot with you as their mom. We would all be lost without you.
To Elyse, you have become an amazing mother to your two beautiful boys.
I'm also thinking of my own mother, Ellen Harding Casey, whom we lost last year. As we celebrate this first Mother's Day without her, we remember her example of serving others and her resolve that family would always come first.
The extraordinary mothers in my own life inspire me to fight so hard to help deliver an expanded child tax credit, a child care credit, increased unemployment benefits for people who lost their jobs, and checks that helped pay the bills, to help moms take care of their families during these last trying years.
In the Senate, I will continue doing everything in my power to ensure that all mothers and families receive the support they need and have access to the affordable health care every one of us deserves, and increase efforts to substantially reduce maternal mortality.
We all can and must do our part to thank the mothers in our lives, to help ease their burden, and to celebrate them.
