The fossil fuel industry makes over $600 billion in profits every year. That's right — billions of dollars. ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, and BP combined made a combined profit of $100 billion in 2023 alone.1
While the fossil fuel industry profits, we suffer the consequences. Last year, the United States went through 28 disastrous weather events (the highest number recorded in a single year) — totaling over $92.2 billion in damage.2
Big Oil boasts record profits while turning the other way when we suffer climate consequences. Exxon executives have even gone as far as to bully journalists covering the damage they create.3
The United States Senate has stepped in and released a joint staff report on Big Oil's attempts to avoid accountability for its role in exacerbating the climate crisis.4 This is huge.
