This fight is of national significance

Jason,

When Beto launched Powered By People, a lot of folks asked us: "Why should I care about what happens in Texas?" Give us a second to lay out the reasons:

  • Texas is changing. It's on the verge of flipping blue. For decades, Texas has been the largest Republican stronghold in the U.S. Now its 38 electoral college votes and 36 seats in Congress are in play.

  • We're just 9 seats away from flipping the Texas House. Out of 150 seats, that's all we need to take control of Texas' legislature. BIG implications for the nearly 1-in-12 Americans who live in this state.

  • Texas is ground zero for the fight on climate change and health care. Texas is the state with the most oil and gas, but it's also the state building the most wind energy. Plus, it's the largest state where a Republican government hasn't yet expanded Medicaid under Obamacare.

Beto and our entire Powered By People team are going all in on the most important special election happening right now in Texas — Eliz Markowitz's race for Texas HD 28. The election is just weeks away, and we've assembled a team to knock 10,000 doors this weekend.

But we need your help to fund this critical local organizing work that has huge national implications. This weekend alone we are hoping to get more than 400 volunteers mobilized, and that takes significant resources.

Can you chip in $3 to help Powered By People turn Texas blue and win Eliz Markowitz's special election in these final weeks? Whether you're from the state or not, your contributions are vitally important to our efforts.

Contribute $3

In the coming weeks, we'll be reaching out to get your help. Yes you! Because if you're from California, New York, West Virginia, or Idaho, you should care about what's happening on the ground here in Texas. It might very well change everything about our national politics.

Thanks for all you are doing,

Powered By People
