There are changes we can make to reform the Court and restore peoples' trust in democracy.
As we wait for the Supreme Court to determine the fate of a commonly used abortion medication, we're once again reminded how badly the Court needs reforms.
Our democracy is only as strong as people's trust in it, and Americans are right to question if their government is really working for them. In the Senate, I'd support broad changes to the Supreme Court like:
- Expanding the number of justices
- Implementing term limits
- Creating a judicial code of ethics
Right now, the Supreme Court doesn't just lean conservative, it's straight up corrupt. Just look at Justice Clarence Thomas' long list of ethics scandals, or at the cases the Court even bothers to take up—the Court is clearly beholden to a handful of Republican mega-donors.
