I'm proud to be the only candidate in this Senate race who doesn't accept corporate PAC or federal lobbyist money.

I hope that won't be such a rare thing a few years from now. But right now, the majority of elected officials take that kind of money because it's just plain easier than grassroots fundraising. But as a single working mom running for office, I don't take the easy way out. To me, it's worth the work to know I've got the support of the people I represent.

Just because we're putting in the work to do it the right way doesn't mean everything is always sunshine and roses, though. Grassroots fundraising always takes a dip in the summer, but this year has been especially rough.
