Lax Pentagon oversight + lack of accountability = unacceptable
Did you know that the Pentagon hasn't passed a single independent audit in years?
Despite this, Congress passed a record breaking $858 billion defense budget last year—which was $45 billion more than what President Biden had requested. Yet, due to lax DOD oversight, we're not able to scrutinize what each and every dollar is going toward.
This is wasteful, reckless, and unacceptable.
Every year, private defense contractors spend millions lobbying members of Congress. In fact, defense contractors spent $101 million on lobbying in the first three quarters of 2022.
As an advocate for oversight and accountability, I've worked to ensure that taxpayer dollars are being spent responsibly—and not given as handouts to private defense contractors who make billions each year.
By eliminating some of this wasteful spending, we would be able to make crucial investments in infrastructure, clean energy, education, healthcare, and so much more.
Taxpayers deserve to know where and how their money is being spent. If you agree, can you pitch in today to send me to the U.S. Senate so I can continue demanding accountability from the Pentagon?
