Once again, Trump's Department of Education is trying to withhold billions of dollars in federal funding from California schools in its latest attempt to impose its hateful, extreme, anti-trans agenda.
So once again, I took him to court. And just last night — within 24 hours of filing the lawsuit — I secured a temporary order blocking this unlawful funding cut.
This lawless administration is attempting to terminate nearly $5 billion in federal funding on entirely baseless claims.
Using our classrooms, teachers, and students as leverage to intimidate California's education agencies is wrong, and it's unlawful. I'm going to keep fighting this in the courts until we win.
If you support this work to hold Trump and his administration accountable, please consider donating any amount to my re-election campaign today so we can keep it going through Trump's entire second term.
Trump's Department of Education is trying to use this education funding to coerce schools into adopting policies that would forcibly out transgender students and violate their privacy.
California is fully compliant with federal privacy laws, and the administration hasn't identified a single case where a school denied parents access to student records.
But still, they're trying to twist the law to suit their liking and impose new conditions that Congress never approved — holding billions of dollars in education funding hostage in the process.
Schools should be places of learning and safety, not political battlegrounds. That's why I took Trump to court. I'm asking for a permanent injunction to stop this power grab for good before it causes real harm.
When Trump threatens education funding, he's threatening kids, teachers, and families — and he's doing it to advance a discriminatory political agenda.
I won't stand by while the federal government bullies California schools, undermines student privacy, or puts LGBTQ+ kids at risk.
But taking on this administration requires resources, focus, and the ability to fight back fast. I'm running for re-election so I can keep standing up for California — and I need your help to do it.
Help us keep fighting these critical battles by chipping in today. Your support directly powers my work to hold Trump accountable and stop him from breaking the law at the expense of California's students.
