This would be the nightmare scenario: two MAGA Republicans being the only choices for California governor.
We're not exaggerating. Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco have both placed first in polls and could box out Democrats entirely in the non-partisan, top two primary.
Why is this happening? Because Democratic support is splintered. There are so many candidates running that no one Democrat has built a commanding lead.
There is good news: a recent poll showed that Katie Porter is the only candidate who can consolidate the support needed to win this race.
