I'll be honest. I was concerned about young people for a moment.
After the low voter turnout in 2024 and fewer young faces in the streets at No Kings protests than I expected, I wondered if maybe a generation that has been called on to show up again and again was starting to check out.
But you know what?
I was wrong. And I am really glad I'm able to say that now.
Young people are showing up. They're pissed off. They're ready to fight back.
The Harvard Youth Poll shows something remarkable: Young people are dissatisfied with both political parties — but they trust Democrats more to get the country back on track, and youth voter turnout in 2026 is expected to surge to its highest rate ever.
Across the country, students are walking out of high schools to protest dangerous federal enforcement actions — including the fatal shootings by ICE agents in Minneapolis that ignited massive demonstrations and condemnation nationwide.
What we're seeing is a generation waking up, refusing to be quiet, refusing to tolerate violence and injustice, and taking meaningful action.
It reminds me of 2018 — when young people marched, organized, and demanded gun reform after Parkland. We made change then, and we can do it again. If we wake up, get pissed off, and take meaningful action together.
That's exactly what we're doing at Leaders We Deserve.
We're not just complaining — we're electing a new generation of leaders. Leaders who look like the future, think like the future, and will fight like hell for the future. And these young candidates are inspiring a new generation to vote.
But none of this work happens without support.
