Friends, I'm suing to block this illegal merger. It's important and could impact millions of Americans, so I want you to have all the facts:
Nexstar Media Group is a massive broadcast company that owns TV stations around the country, and they're trying to acquire another huge broadcast company, Tegna.
If these two companies merge, they'll consolidate their power into a behemoth that covers more than 80% of TV households in the country. This is a clear violation of federal antitrust laws and FCC rules.
It would also be a gut punch to our democracy that relies on an informed population.
Consumers would have fewer choices and less power, higher bills, and communities would lose the information and critical check on power that local journalism provides.
So who's pushing for this? Well, Donald Trump, for one:
|
The Trump administration has proven it won't defend the public and uphold consumer protection and antitrust laws, and it won't lift a finger to tackle our affordability crisis — but while they won't, I will. I am.
We'll keep fighting, and with the law on our side, we will win.
I'll keep you updated on our progress.
