Let me tell you about something I heard from my grandfather.
He said "Never let someone take something away from you when they never gave it to you in the first place."
That's what came to mind when Donald Trump disinvited me from a dinner with governors from across the country last month. Invite or not, the President didn't make me governor — the people of Maryland did, with the highest vote count in state history.
I'm spending my career fighting for all the people I have the privilege of representing — and Trump can't take that power away, because he never gave it to me. And across the country, Democratic governors are doing the same by standing up for their constituents amid a reckless agenda from the federal government.
