This is wrong. And when I'm governor, I'm going to fix it.
Public school students are subjected to deeply flawed standardized tests while private school students get a free pass — and a taxpayer-funded school voucher.
If the STAAR test is good enough for the 5.5 million kids in Texas public schools, it should be good enough for ALL students receiving a taxpayer-funded education.
And if it's not — then NO student in Texas should be subjected to these tests.
When I'm governor, we're going to end the STAAR testing regime as we know it and stop the voucher scheme that's draining resources from our public schools.

I've seen what our public schools can do when they're supported — and I've seen what happens when politicians rig the system against them. I ran for office the first time to stop politicians from shutting down my son's school. And we won that fight.
Today, politicians like Greg Abbott are threatening public education at every turn:
- Over-testing our kids
- Undermining our teachers
- Defunding our neighborhood schools
- Handing public dollars to private interests with no real accountability
Texas kids deserve better. Plain and simple.
And I'm running for governor because I know we can deliver on that promise.
We're going to end the era of the STAAR test. We're going to roll back Abbott's voucher scheme that funds private school education with our taxpayer dollars.
