Impact: I despise the word.
As I tell my team, "impact" is what meteorites do. I always want to go beyond and explain *what* the effect of something is, whether that thing is legislation or your donation.
Price gouging at the gas pump, for example, has impacted all of us. But for many Californians, it meant putting groceries back on shelves or not taking that family road trip. For Big Oil executives it meant record profits, and maybe even a new yacht!
