I'm running to represent California in the United States Senate. Let me tell you what the job means to me:
- Advocating for Californians: It's my job to make sure federal policy works for California families. Earlier this year, I introduced the Supporting Americans with Lower Taxes Act to revise state and local tax deductions. This would reverse Trump tax code changes that unfairly punished middle class taxpayers in blue states.
- Bringing the best ideas from California to the rest of the country: Our state is a leader in so many areas. From electric vehicle infrastructure to free community college, I'll fight to bring the best California policies nationwide.
- Standing up to corruption and special interests: I've never taken a dime from corporate PACs and I don't take federal lobbyist money. I'm leading the fight to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks. I work only for my constituents.
- Showing up in every part of the state: I grew up on a farm, and know rural areas are often overlooked. From Redding, to Bakersfield, to Indio, and everywhere in between, I promise to hear directly from diverse voices.
- Helping Democrats win tough seats: California itself could deliver the House majority to Democrats, but we need leaders at the top of the ticket who can help turn out voters. I've represented a swing district and know how to win tough races. As a Senator, I'd be ready to play an important role representing Democrats all across the country, helping us win tough swing seats. I love campaigning!
I'm thrilled about the strong start we've had to this campaign, but we need to keep the momentum going. Can you chip in today?
Thanks for considering,
Katie Porter
