I'm proud to support our veterans through real legislation.
Today is Veterans Day, and today and everyday, it isn't enough to thank veterans for their service; we must match our gratitude with action. In my few years in Congress, I've been proud to help support our country's veterans by:
- Helping pass a law that's making it easier for veterans exposed to toxic substances during service to file disability claims and get the medical care they need.
- Pushing the CDC to re-investigate the drinking water at Fort Ord, a former U.S. Army base on Monterey Bay, after hundreds of veterans and civilians stationed there developed rare blood cancers and other diseases that may be linked to pollution at the base.
- Successfully pushing for more funding for the Veterans Crisis Line.
- Spearheading efforts in Congress to protect veterans from scams. I have a bipartisan bill that would crack down on fraudulent organizations that have stolen millions from veterans by posing as charities.
Our country's veterans from all generations deserve the best, and I'll be a champion for them in the U.S. Senate.
