Over a quarter of people in the United States – including those with disabilities, seniors, young people, and low-income individuals–navigate their lives without personal vehicles. Instead, non-drivers rely on walking, cycling, carpooling, or taking public transportation.
This year, Green New Deal Network is proud to participate in #WeekWithoutDriving from September 30th to October 6th, a challenge that invites us to experience the everyday realities of those who, by circumstance or choice, do not drive. This challenge shines a light on the barriers that come along with car-centric infrastructure and emphasizes the importance of accessible, reliable, and equitable public transit.
