When most people think about campaigns, they picture candidates giving speeches, knocking on doors, or debating on stage.
But that's only part of the story.
Behind every successful campaign is a team making phone calls late into the night, reviewing messaging, recruiting volunteers, raising money, building coalitions, and helping candidates navigate every challenge that comes with running for office.
That's the work we're doing every single day at Leaders We Deserve.
We don't just endorse young progressive candidates — we help build winning campaigns.
It starts with recruitment. We identify young leaders who have the potential to be the best representatives for their communities, especially the ones the political establishment too often overlooks.
Then we get to work.
We help campaigns build from the ground up by supporting them through their campaign launch, advising them on fundraising, recruiting staff, pitching their story to local and national news, advising them on messaging, coalition building, voter outreach, and volunteer recruitment. Our Campaigns Department works with our endorsed campaigns every day to ensure they are running the best operation and crafting the best strategy to win. On top of daily advising, we also run paid media campaigns to get our candidates’ message out to voters. Through grassroots support from people like you, we’re able to invest heavily and reach hundreds of thousands of voters in a district through mail campaigns, digital ads, and more.
It's not always glamorous.
Sometimes it means burning the midnight oil to review campaign plans before a big launch. Sometimes it's helping a first-time candidate prepare for an important interview or rushing to close a budget gap in order to keep a campaign ad on the air for one more week.
But this is the work that wins elections.
